Narrater: (Aisha) Hadidth No: (245)

The Prophet used to (put) bend his head (out) to me while he was in Itikaf in the mosque during my monthly periods and I would comb and oil his hair.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(30)

Lo! as for those who believe and do good works - Lo! We suffer not the reward of one whose work is goodly to be lost.

Narrater: (Abu Said Al-Khudri) Hadidth No: (244)

Allah's Apostle used to practice Itikaf in the middle ten days of Ramadan and once he stayed in Itikaf till the night of the twenty-first and it was the night in the morning of which he used to come out of his Itikaf. The Prophet said, ''Whoever was in Itikaf with me should stay in Itikaf for the last ten days, for I was informed (of the date) of the Night (of Qadr) but I have been caused to forget it. (In the dream) I saw myself prostrating in mud and water in the morning of that night. So, look for it in the last ten nights and in the odd ones of them.'' It rained that night and the roof of the mosque dribbled as it was made of leaf stalks of date-palms. I saw with my own eyes the mark of mud and water on the forehead of the Prophet (i.e. in the morning of the twenty-first).

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(29)

Say: It is the truth from the Lord of you all. Then whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, let him disbelieve. Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers Fire. Its tent encloseth them. If they ask for showers, they will be showered with water like to molten lead which burneth the faces. Calamitous the drink and ill the resting-place!

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(28)

Restrain thyself along with those who cry unto their Lord at morn and evening, seeking His Countenance; and let not thine eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance, who followeth his own lust and whose case hath been abandoned.

Narrater: (Aisha) Hadidth No: (243)

(the wife of the Prophet) The Prophet used to practice Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan till he died and then his wives used to practice Itikaf after him.

Narrater: (Abdullah bin Umar) Hadidth No: (242)

Allah's Apostle used to practise Itikaf in the last ten days of the month of Ramadan.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(27)

And recite that which hath been revealed unto thee of the Scripture of thy Lord. There is none who can change His words, and thou wilt find no refuge beside Him.

Narrater: (Aisha) Hadidth No: (241)

With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work hard) and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(26)

Say: Allah is best aware how long they tarried. His is the Invisible of the heavens and the earth. How clear of sight is He and keen of hearing! They have no protecting friend beside Him, and He maketh none to share in His government.

Narrater: (Ubada bin As-Samit) Hadidth No: (240)

The Prophet came out to inform us about the Night of Qadr but two Muslims were quarreling with each other. So, the Prophet said, ''I came out to inform you about the Night of Qadr but such-and-such persons were quarreling, so the news about it had been taken away; yet that might be for your own good, so search for it on the 29th, 27th and 25th (of Ramadan).

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(25)

And it is said they tarried in their Cave three hundred years and add nine.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(24)

Except if Allah will. And remember thy Lord when thou forgettest, and say: It may be that my Lord guideth me unto a nearer way of truth than this.

Narrater: (Ibn Abbas) Hadidth No: (239)

Allah's Apostle said, ''The Night of Qadr is in the last ten nights of the month (Ramadan), either on the first nine or in the last (remaining) seven nights (of Ramadan).'' Ibn Abbas added, ''Search for it on the twenty-fourth (of Ramadan).''

Narrater: (Ibn Abbas) Hadidth No: (238)

The Prophet said, ''Look for the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan ,' on the night when nine or seven or five nights remain out of the last ten nights of Ramadan (i.e. 21, 23, 25, respectively).''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(23)

And say not of anything: Lo! I shall do that tomorrow,

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(22)

Some will say: They were three, their dog the fourth, and some say: Five, their dog the sixth, guessing at random; and some say: Seven, and their dog the eighth. Say O Muhammad: My Lord is best aware of their number. None knoweth them save a few. So contend not concerning them except with an outward contending, and ask not any of them to pronounce concerning them.

Narrater: (Aisha) Hadidth No: (237)

Allah's Apostle used to practice Itikaf in the last ten nights of Ramadan and used to say, ''Look for the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan ,''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(21)

And in like manner We disclosed them to the people of the city that they might know that the promise of Allah is true, and that, as for the Hour, there is no doubt concerning it. When the people of the city disputed of their case among themselves, they said: Build over them a building; their Lord knoweth best concerning them. Those who won their point said: We verily shall build a place of worship over them.

The Prophet said, ''Look for (the Night of Qadr).''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(20)

For they, if they should come to know of you, will stone you or turn you back to their religion; then ye will never prosper.

Narrater: (Abu Said Al-Khudri) Hadidth No: (235)

Allah's Apostle used to practice Itikaf (in the mosque) in the middle third of Ramadan and after passing the twenty nights he used to go back to his house on the 21st, and the people who were in Itikaf with him also used to go back to their houses. Once in Ramadan, in which he practiced Itikaf, he established the night prayers at the night in which he used to return home, and then he addressed the people and ordered them whatever Allah wished him to order and said, ''I used to practice Itikaf for these ten days (i.e. the middle 113rd but now I intend to stay in Itikaf for the last ten days (of the month); so whoever was in Itikaf with me should stay at his place of seclusion. I have verily been shown (the date of) this Night (of Qadr) but I have forgotten it. So search for it in the odd nights of the last ten days (of this month). I also saw myself (in the dream) prostrating in mud and water.'' On the night of the 21st, the sky was covered with clouds and it rained, and the rain-water started leaking through the roof of the mosque at the praying place of the Prophet . I saw with my own eyes the Prophet at the completion of the morning prayer leaving with his face covered with mud and water.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(19)

And in like manner We awakened them that they might question one another. A speaker from among them said: How long have ye tarried? They said: We have tarried a day or some part of a day, Others said: Your Lord best knoweth what ye have tarried. Now send one of you with this your silver coin unto the city, and let him see what food is purest there and bring you a supply thereof. Let him be courteous and let no man know of you.

Narrater: (Aisha) Hadidth No: (234)

Allah's Apostle said, ''Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.''

Narrater: (Abu Salama) Hadidth No: (233)

I asked Abu Sa'id, and he was a friend of mine, (about the Night of Qadr) and he said, ''We practiced Itikaf (seclusion in the mosque) in the middle third of the month of Ramadan with the Prophet . In the morning of the 20th of Ramadan, the Prophet came and addressed us and said, I was informed of (the date of the Night of Qadr) but I was caused to forget it; so search for it in the odd nights of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan. (In the dream) I saw myself prostrating in mud and water (as a sign). So, whoever was in l'tikaf with me should return to it with me (for another 10-day's period)', and we returned. At that time there was no sign of clouds in the sky but suddenly a cloud came and it rained till rain-water started leaking through the roof of the mosque which was made of date-palm leaf stalks. Then the prayer was established and I saw Allah's Apostle prostrating in mud and water and I saw the traces of mud on his forehead.''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(18)

And thou wouldst have deemed them waking though they were asleep, and We caused them to turn over to the right and the left, and their dog stretching out his paws on the threshold. If thou hadst observed them closely thou hadst assuredly turned away from them in flight, and hadst been filled with awe of them.

Narrater: (Ibn Umar) Hadidth No: (232)

Some men amongst the companions of the Prophet were shown in their dreams that the night of Qadr was in the last seven nights of Ramadan. Allah's Apostle said, ''It seems that all your dreams agree that (the Night of Qadr) is in the last seven nights, and whoever wants to search for it (i.e. the Night of Qadr) should search in the last seven (nights of Ramadan).''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(17)

And thou mightest have seen the sun when it rose move away from their cave to the right, and when it set go past them on the left, and they were in the cleft thereof. That was one of the portents of Allah. He whom Allah guideth, he indeed is led aright, and he whom He sendeth astray, for him thou wilt not find a guiding friend.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(16)

And when ye withdraw from them and that which they worship except Allah, then seek refuge in the Cave; your Lord will spread for you of His mercy and will prepare for you a pillow in your plight.

Narrater: (Abu Huraira) Hadidth No: (231)

The Prophet said, ''Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven .''

Narrater: (Abu Salama bin Abdur Rahman) Hadidth No: (230)

that he asked Aisha ''How was the prayer of Allah's Apostle in Ramadan?'' She replied, ''He did not pray more than eleven Rakat in Ramadan or in any other month. He used to pray four Rakat —- let alone their beauty and length—-and then he would pray four —-let alone their beauty and length —-and then he would pray three Rakat (Witr).'' She added, ''I asked, O Allah's Apostle! Do you sleep before praying the Witr?' He replied, O Aisha! My eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep.''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(15)

These, our people, have chosen other gods beside Him though they bring no clear warrant vouchsafed to them. And who doth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie concerning Allah?

Narrater: (Urwa) Hadidth No: (229)

That he was informed by Aisha, ''Allah's Apostle went out in the middle of the night and prayed in the mosque and some men prayed behind him. In the morning, the people spoke about it and then a large number of them gathered and prayed behind him (on the second night). In the next morning the people again talked about it and on the third night the mosque was full with a large number of people. Allah's Apostle came out and the people prayed behind him. On the fourth night the Mosque was overwhelmed with people and could not accommodate them, but the Prophet came out (only) for the morning prayer. When the morning prayer was finished he recited Tashah-hud and (addressing the people) said, ''Amma ba'du, your presence was not hidden from me but I was afraid lest the night prayer (Qiyam) should be enjoined on you and you might not be able to carry it on.'' So, Allah's Apostle died and the situation remained like that (i.e. people prayed individually). ''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(14)

And We made firm their hearts when they stood forth and said: Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We cry unto no god beside Him, for then should we utter an enormity.

Narrater: (Aisha) Hadidth No: (228)

(the wife of the Prophet) Allah's Apostle used to pray (at night) in Ramadan.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(13)

We narrate unto thee their story with truth. Lo! they were young men who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.

Narrater: (Abu Huraira) Hadidth No: (227)

Allah's Apostle said, ''Whoever prayed at night the whole month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.'' Ibn Shihab (a sub-narrator) said, ''Allah's Apostle died and the people continued observing that (i.e. Nawafil offered individually, not in congregation), and it remained as it was during the Caliphate of Abu Bakr and in the early days of Umar's Caliphate.'' Abdur Rahman bin Abdul Qari said, ''I went out in the company of Umar bin Al-Khattab one night in Ramadan to the mosque and found the people praying in different groups. A man praying alone or a man praying with a little group behind him. So, Umar said, In my opinion I would better collect these (people) under the leadership of one Qari (Reciter) (i.e. let them pray in congregation!)'. So, he made up his mind to congregate them behind Ubai bin Ka'b. Then on another night I went again in his company and the people were praying behind their reciter. On that, Umar remarked, What an excellent Bid'a (i.e. innovation in religion) this is; but the prayer which they do not perform, but sleep at its time is better than the one they are offering.' He meant the prayer in the last part of the night. (In those days) people used to pray in the early part of the night.''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(12)

And afterward We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties would best calculate the time that they had tarried.

Narrater: (Abu Huraira) Hadidth No: (226)

I heard Allah's Apostle saying regarding Ramadan, ''Whoever prayed at night in it (the month of Ramadan) out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(11)

Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(10)

When the young men fled for refuge to the Cave and said: Our Lord! Give us mercy from Thy presence, and shape for us right conduct in our plight.

Narrater: (Salama bin Al-Akwa) Hadidth No: (225)

The Prophet ordered a man from the tribe of Bani Aslam to announce amongst the people that whoever had eaten should fast the rest of the day, and whoever had not eaten should continue his fast, as that day was the day of Ashura' .

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(9)

Or deemest thou that the People of the Cave and the Inscription are a wonder among Our portents?

Narrater: (Ibn Abbas) Hadidth No: (224)

I never saw the Prophet seeking to fast on a day more (preferable to him) than this day, the day of Ashura', or this month, i.e. the month of Ramadan.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(8)

And lo! We shall make all that is therein a barren mound.

Narrater: (Abu Musa) Hadidth No: (223)

The day of Ashura' was considered as Id day by the Jews. So the Prophet ordered, ''I recommend you (Muslims) to fast on this day.''

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(7)

Lo! We have placed all that is in the earth as an ornament thereof that We may try them: which of them is best in conduct.

Narrater: (Ibn Abbas) Hadidth No: (222)

The Prophet came to Medina and saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura. He asked them about that. They replied, ''This is a good day, the day on which Allah rescued Bani Israel from their enemy. So, Moses fasted this day.'' The Prophet said, ''We have more claim over Moses than you.'' So, the Prophet fasted on that day and ordered (the Muslims) to fast (on that day).

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(6)

Yet it may be, if they believe not in this statement, that thou Muhammad wilt torment thy soul with grief over their footsteps.

Narrater: (Humaid bin Abdur Rahman) Hadidth No: (221)

That he heard Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan on the day of Ashura' during the year he performed the Hajj, saying on the pulpit, ''O the people of Medina! Where are your Religious Scholars? I heard Allah's Apostle saying, This is the day of Ashura'. Allah has not enjoined its fasting on you but I am fasting it. You have the choice either to fast or not to fast (on this day).' ''

Narrater: (Aisha) Hadidth No: (220)

Quraish used to fast on the day of Ashura' in the Pre-lslamic period, and Allah's Apostle too, used to fast on that day. When he came to Medina, he fasted on that day and ordered others to fast, too. Later when the fasting of the month of Ramadan was prescribed, he gave up fasting on the day of Ashura' and it became optional for one to fast on it or not.

Al-Quran- Sura No(18), Ayat(5)

A thing whereof they have no knowledge, nor had their fathers, Dreadful is the word that cometh out of their mouths. They speak naught but a lie.

Narrater: (Aisha) Hadidth No: (219)

Allah's Apostle ordered (the Muslims) to fast on the day of Ashura', and when fasting in the month of Ramadan was prescribed, it became optional for one to fast on that day ('Ashura') or not.

And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son,

Wherein they will abide for ever;

The Prophet said, ''Whoever wishes may fast on the day of Ashura'.''
